Senior Apprentice
Work hours for this position are typically Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, 40 Hours/Week with overtime as needed. At the Company’s expense, Overnight Travel is occasionally required to coordinate labor needs with project locations.
In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a problem-solving mentality, present a professional image, and be courteous at all times.
- Willingness to learn advanced skills such as complex wiring, troubleshooting, valve adjustment, door equipment adjustment, controller fire-up, performing pre-test inspections, and making final adjustments to equipment before inspection.
- Perform complex tasks alongside Jr. Apprentices ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. This will include conduit installation, basic circuit wiring, cab installation, hall and car door equipment installation, oil line installation, car sling and platform installation, performing preventative maintenance tasks, welding, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist the Elevator Mechanic with all aspects of the job including installation, modernization, service, and maintenance.
- Learn to assemble, install, repair, and maintain electric, hydraulic, freight, and passenger elevators.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Create weekly reports regarding open tasks and submit them to Mechanic.
- Complete Company-required safety and skills training and certification. At a minimum, OSHA 10 within the first 90 days of employment, OSHA 30 within the following 90 days, and 8 NAEC eLearning Courses per year.
- Willingness to put in the extra time and effort to continue development of industry knowledge and experience. This will include classroom time both during and after hours as well as hands-on training from senior staff.
- Possess and develop troubleshooting and critical thinking skills while working with senior staff to solve issues as they arise during the installation process.
- Focus on the importance of housekeeping methods and work with Junior Apprentices to ensure a safe and clean work environment that is stocked and ready for the elevator installation.
- Possess a clear understanding of elevator installation practices. Look ahead to the next steps, anticipate needed materials and equipment, and maintain a clean job site.
- Possess a basic understanding of Code compliance for elevator installation and associated work by others.
- Possess the ability to lead by example by presenting best practices of appearance, attitude, and respect while continuing to promote safety quality, and efficiency.
- Perform tasks and duties in line with the schedule established by senior staff.
- Generate a daily report of tasks and duties performed as well as identify potential problems that may need to be addressed by senior staff.
