We run a high annual volume of Category 1 testing and we need a licensed inspector to carry it. This is not a clipboard job. The inspector we are looking for knows the equipment well enough to correct small problems on the spot, so a unit is not left down waiting on a re-inspection.
Pay: Depending on experience and licensing
Location: New York
Type: Full time
Licensing Requirements
-
Must hold the New York licensing required to perform Category 1 and Category 5 testing. This is the requirement we cannot move on
- New Jersey inspection licensing is a strong plus, but not required
- Good standing with the relevant New York City and New York State authorities
Hands-On Capability
- This is a key part of the position. When the inspector is on site and finds a minor issue, we expect him to be able to correct it during the inspection rather than fail the unit and schedule a return trip.
- Comfortable making minor adjustments and repairs with his own hands while testing
- Knows how to tell a minor correction from a real deficiency that must be written up
- Keeps units in service wherever it is safe and correct to do so
- Reduces re-inspection trips and callbacks
Also Looking For
- Solid field background in elevator service or repair before moving into inspection work
- Familiar with older equipment and a range of controller makes and models
- Clean, accurate, timely paperwork and filing
- Professional with building owners, supers, and managing agents
What We Provide
- Steady, year-round volume of Category 1 and Category 5 work
- Full office and scheduling support
- Company vehicle and parts support
