Elevator Troubleshooter

Location: Based out of Staten Island NY


Summary:

The Elevator Troubleshooter is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in elevator systems. This role supports maintenance teams by identifying root causes of malfunctions, performing advanced repairs, and ensuring elevators operate safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities:


  • System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex elevator and escalator malfunctions.
  • Analyze electrical, mechanical, and control system failures.
  • Identify root causes of recurring system issues and implement solutions.
  • Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals to perform repairs.


Maintenance & Repairs:


  • Perform advanced repairs on motors, controllers, drives, doors, and safety systems.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with difficult repair tasks.
  • Ensure elevators return to safe and reliable operation after service.


Safety & Compliance:


  • Follow safety procedures and industry standards during troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ensure elevator systems meet local safety codes and inspection requirements.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and report issues immediately.


Technical Support:


  • Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians.
  • Assist with training technicians on troubleshooting procedures and equipment operation.
  • Recommend improvements to prevent recurring mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting.
  • Record troubleshooting activities, repairs, and system adjustments.
  • Maintain detailed service reports and maintenance records.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to supervisors or management.


Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of experience in elevator installation, maintenance, or service


Skills:


  • Strong knowledge of elevator systems, controls, and safety mechanisms .
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills.


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, shafts, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to respond to emergency service calls when needed.


Work Environment Work may involve commercial buildings, hospitals, hotels, residential complexes, or industrial facilities. May require on-call or after-hours work for emergency repairs.
