About the Role
We are seeking a traveling Field Service Technician to support the installation,
troubleshooting, and servicing of rack-and-pinion elevator systems used in industrial and
petrochemical environments.
This is a hands-on, field-based role for technicians who are comfortable working at heights,
traveling extensively, and taking ownership of jobs from setup through successful operation.
While mechanical and rigging skills are essential, electrical troubleshooting capability is
critical for success in this position.
This is not a traditional interior elevator role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Mechanical, Rigging & Installation
- Assemble, erect, modify, and dismantle rack-and-pinion elevator towers
- Perform rigging and de-rigging in accordance with company and SIA safety standards
- Load, transport, and stage equipment, tools, and materials for job execution
- Assist with make-ready, teardown, and field modifications
- Work safely at heights on OSHA-rated platforms and elevator cars
Electrical & Troubleshooting (Key Responsibility)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, control, and motor-related issues
- Perform testing and measurement at motors, controllers, load inputs, and related components
- Interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
- Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
- Support field teams when electrical or operational issues arise on active job sites
- Verify system functionality prior to turnover or redeployment
Field Operations & Safety
- Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSA), LOTO, site permits, and daily safety documentation
- Work in active petrochemical and industrial facilities with strict compliance requirements
- Interface professionally with site contacts, supervisors, and project teams
- Travel extensively to support shutdowns, turnarounds, and service needs
- Accurately document work performed using tablets and company systems
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on construction or industrial equipment experience
- Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting ability (meters, diagnostics, controls)
- Comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding environment
- Willingness to travel 75–80%
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform sustained physical work
- Safety-first mindset with attention to detail
- Basic computer/tablet proficiency for field reporting
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with rack-and-pinion elevators, cranes, hoists, or similar systems
- Industrial electrician, crane technician, or electromechanical background
- Rigging, scaffolding, or suspended access experience
- Petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial site experience
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain)
Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily outdoor and industrial job sites
- Extended travel assignments common
- Typical workweeks exceed 50 hours; overtime is standard
- Spring and fall turnaround seasons may require longer schedules
- Work performed both independently and as part of field teams
