Junior Mechanic Apprentice
Work hours for this position are typically Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, 40 Hours/Week, with overtime as needed.
At the Company’s expense, overnight travel is occasionally required to coordinate labor needs
with project locations.
In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
● Maintain a problem-solving mentality, present a professional image, positive attitude, and be courteous at all times.
● Arrive on time dressed for the day with a willingness to learn the elevator trade.
● Willingness to learn advanced skills such as complex wiring, troubleshooting, valve adjustment, door equipment adjustment, controller fire-up, performing pre-test
inspections, and making final adjustments to equipment before the inspection.
● Ability to follow directions and willingness to work as part of a team as well as performance of small tasks under the supervision of Senior Apprentices and Mechanics
in a manner that promotes safety, quality, and efficiency.
● Assist the Elevator Mechanic with all aspects of the job including installation, modernization, service,and maintenance.
● Learn to assemble, install, repair, and maintain electric, hydraulic, freight, and passenger elevators.
● Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
● Create weekly reports regarding open tasks and submit them to Mechanic.
● Complete the Company required safety and skills training and certification. At a minimum, OSHA 10 within the first 90 days of employment, Ariel and Scissor Lift
Training, CPR Essentials Training, Fall Protection Training, First Aid Basics, Forklift Certification, Lock-Out Tag-Out Training, and Silica Training within the first year of
employment.
● Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent and hold a valid driver’s license.
● Possess a basic understanding of layout drawings and the ability to verify measurements
● Learn to look ahead to the next steps, anticipate needed materials and equipment, and maintain a clean job site.
● Understand and maintain tool and material inventory of Company work vehicles. Work to prepare a company work vehicle before job site deployment.
● Willingness to put in the extra time and effort to build knowledge and experience. This will include classroom time both during and after hours as well as hands-on training from
senior staff.
