Sales Representative – Elevator Consulting Services

Overview

We are seeking a motivated, consultative Sales Representative to grow a specialized elevator consulting practice. This role is responsible for developing relationships across commercial, residential, government, and institutional markets, working closely with property stakeholders, project managers, architects, and engineers, and positioning independent consulting services as a critical component of successful elevator projects.

This is not product sales. Success in this role requires proactive outreach, technical credibility, and the ability to clearly articulate why independent elevator consulting delivers better outcomes, reduced risk, and long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through:
  • Cold calling and direct outreach to targeted accounts
  • Relationship development with project managers, architects, and engineers (A/E)
  • Engagement with commercial, residential, government, and institutional clients
  • Sell a range of elevator consulting services, including:
  • Test witnessing services
  • Maintenance agreement specification and review services
  • Elevator audits and condition assessments
  • Modernization planning and specifications
  • Owner’s-representative and project oversight services
  • Manage the full sales cycle:
  • Prospecting and lead generation
  • Client meetings and presentations
  • Proposal development
  • Closing and contract execution

Government & Institutional Engagement

  • Review and respond to RFPs from government agencies and public-sector entities
  • Navigate public procurement processes and compliance requirements
  • Build relationships with institutional stakeholders such as:
  • Universities and school systems
  • Healthcare systems and hospitals
  • Municipal, county, and state agencies

Client Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Meet with clients in person to understand project needs and priorities
  • Clearly communicate why the firm is the best choice for independent elevator consulting
  • Conduct presentations and discussions that educate clients on:
  • Risk mitigation
  • Code compliance and safety
  • Long-term cost control and performance
  • Develop long-term relationships that generate repeat business and referrals

Marketing & Industry Presence

  • Attend and represent the company at:
  • Industry trade shows and conferences
  • “Big walks” and industry networking events
  • Host and participate in:
  • Lunch & learn presentations for clients, architects, and engineers
  • Support brand visibility and thought leadership within the elevator and building-systems community

Pipeline & Internal Coordination

  • Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline reporting
  • Coordinate with internal technical consultants to scope services and develop proposals
  • Ensure smooth transition from sales to project execution

Qualifications

Required

Proven experience in B2B or B2G sales, preferably within:

  • Elevator or vertical-transportation industry
  • Building systems, construction, or engineering services
  • Elevator Consulting or professional services
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and closing skills
  • Ability to confidently cold call and prospect new accounts
  • Comfortable engaging with technical professionals and senior decision-makers
  • Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven

Preferred

  • Experience working with architects, engineers, and project managers in regards to Elevator projects
  • Familiarity with government RFPs and public procurement processes
  • Knowledge of elevator maintenance, modernization, testing, or inspections
  • Experience representing a firm at trade shows and industry events
