Commissioning Manager (Oversight) - TX Travel


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Oversight Manager to support and monitor all commissioning activities for medium to large-scale Data Center construction projects. This role serves as the primary representative for all commissioning (Cx) oversight functions, ensuring that the customer’s commissioning agent (CxA) adheres to the critical construction schedule, integrates properly with project delivery milestones, and maintains quality and coordination throughout the commissioning lifecycle. Up to 75% travel is required, and work from home office 1 week per month.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all commissioning-related activities managed by the client’s Commissioning Agent (CxA).
  • Ensure commissioning efforts align with the overall project schedule, milestones, and turnover sequences.
  • Coordinate with construction, MEP trades, vendors, and the client’s CxA to facilitate timely and integrated commissioning phases (Levels 1–5).
  • Review and validate commissioning scripts, schedules, and reports for accuracy and consistency with design intent and project requirements.
  • Track progress against commissioning deliverables and escalate risks or delays to project leadership.
  • Attend and represent the GC at commissioning meetings, witness key tests, and verify completion of required documentation.
  • Support system start-up readiness reviews, equipment pre-functional checks, and integrated systems testing oversight.
  • Maintain a clear log of Cx issues, punch list items, and closeout documentation.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure turnover packages meet commissioning requirements.
  • Champions the Safety Program; supports Safety Manager and commissioning team members with communication and reinforcement of safety controls related to commissioning activities.


Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in MEP construction, commissioning, or critical systems projects; data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with commissioning levels (L1–L5) and integrated systems testing.
  • Strong practical understanding of construction workflows, scheduling, and system start-up procedures.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including owners, designers, subcontractors, and Cx agents.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, control sequences, commissioning scripts, and reports.
  • Certification or formal training in commissioning (CxA, LEED, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen and leadership ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.


Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office

environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking. Travel as required by the business.
