Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager – Masonry Division

2–3 Years of Masonry Experience | GC or Masonry Contractor Background | North Carolina


This role is designed for an early‑career builder who understands the unique sequencing, quality standards, and production demands of masonry work. The Project Manager (or APM on a growth path) will support and manage masonry scopes across commercial, institutional, industrial, and multifamily projects. Candidates must bring approximately 2–3 years of experience working directly for a masonry contractor or within a GC’s masonry division.


Role Overview

The Masonry Project Manager/APM coordinates planning, procurement, scheduling, and field support for masonry packages, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This role requires strong communication with field leaders, subcontractors, and GC partners, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing masonry scopes from preconstruction through closeout, including estimating support, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, foremen, and field crews to maintain production goals and resolve daily issues.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals with attention to masonry details, structural requirements, and material compatibility.
  • Support subcontractor and vendor coordination, including buyout, contract administration, and delivery scheduling.
  • Track project costs, quantities, change orders, and production rates to maintain accurate forecasting.
  • Maintain proactive communication with general contractors, owners, architects, and internal teams.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and adherence to project plans.
  • Assist with RFIs, documentation, daily reports, and project meeting preparation.
  • Support QA/QC efforts, punch‑list completion, and project turnover.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of masonry processes, safety practices, and field productivity.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 2–3 years of experience working for a masonry contractor or a masonry division within a general contractor.
  • Strong understanding of masonry systems including CMU, brick, stone, air barriers, flashing, lintels, and structural integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical details related to masonry construction.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office, or similar).
  • Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.

Success Indicators

  • Masonry scopes delivered on schedule, within budget, and with strong quality control.
  • Clear communication with field teams and GC partners, reducing rework and delays.
  • Accurate documentation, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated growth toward full Project Manager responsibilities.
