Project Manager (or Assistant Project Manager)

This role is designed for an early‑to‑mid‑career builder who can manage or support multiple multifamily and commercial projects across the DC–Maryland–Virginia (DMV) region. The Project Manager (or APM on a growth path) will coordinate planning, procurement, scheduling, and field execution while maintaining strong communication with owners, design partners, and subcontractors. Candidates should bring approximately 5 years of experience working for a general contractor on multifamily and/or commercial projects and be ready to take on increasing responsibility.
Role Overview
The Project Manager/APM supports full project lifecycle management—from preconstruction through closeout—ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and schedule. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in fast‑paced environments typical of the DMV market. The ideal candidate is collaborative, solutions‑oriented, and capable of building strong relationships with field teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage or support day‑to‑day project operations for multifamily and commercial construction projects.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams to maintain sequencing, resolve issues, and support daily production.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, buyout, contract administration, and performance oversight.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs with a high level of detail; ensure timely responses and issue resolution.
- Support schedule development, updates, and critical path analysis.
- Track project financials including forecasting, cost reporting, pay applications, and change management.
- Maintain proactive communication with owners, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and project documentation to ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
- Assist with QA/QC efforts, punch‑list completion, and project turnover.
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable project culture.
Qualifications

Approximately 5 years of experience working for a general contractor on multifamily and/or commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of building systems, MEP coordination, and construction sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar).
- Strong communication, organization, and client‑facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
