Controller


A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and finance functions. This role will oversee all fiscal operations, maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with GAAP, and provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership. The Controller will also play a key role in process improvement, staff development, and supporting the company’s long-term financial growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, and monitor results against projections.
  • Manage year-end close, audits, quarterly reviews, and tax preparation in collaboration with external auditors.
  • Conduct profitability analysis by product group and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
  • Monitor cash flow, prepare liquidity forecasts, and ensure compliance with banking covenants.
  • Oversee inventory processes and capital project tracking to ensure accuracy and adherence to budgets.
  • Support ongoing upgrades, maintenance, and enhancements of financial systems (ERP and reporting tools).
  • Provide clear financial reporting and updates to the COO and leadership team.
  • Collaborate on risk management activities, including insurance negotiations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and accounting functions.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading a professional accounting team.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP system knowledge required (Epicor strongly preferred).
  • Experience in private industry; prior audit interaction a plus.
  • Proven ability to implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and interact with senior leadership.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines.
