Location: United States (Must be located in and authorized to work in the US, EST working hours)

Hybrid/On-site/Remote: Remote

Hourly Rate: Up to $45/hour

Clutch is looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Copywriter for a pharma agency client of ours.


Responsibilities:

  • 360 Campaign Conceptualization: Develop compelling creative concepts and overarching narratives for integrated, 360-degree marketing campaigns, ensuring a unified brand voice across digital, print, broadcast, and social channels.
  • Social-First Copywriting: Craft highly engaging, concise, and platform-native copy for social media platforms, transforming complex brand messaging into relatable, thumb-stopping consumer content.
  • Pharma & Regulatory Compliance: Translate complex scientific and medical data into clear, accessible, and empathetic consumer copy for Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) audiences while meticulously adhering to FDA guidelines, fair balance, and ISI (Important Safety Information) requirements.
  • Creative Collaboration: Partner closely with Art Directors, Creative Directors, and medical/regulatory teams within the agency to brainstorm, refine, and deliver creative concepts that align with the client’s brand strategy.
  • Execution & Review: Own the copy process from initial scriptwriting and storyboarding to final proofing. Manage annotations and reference packages required for internal medical-legal-regulatory (MLR) reviews.


Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Advertising, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience), paired with 5+ years of copywriting experience within an advertising agency setting.
  • Vertical Expertise: Strong portfolio demonstrating experience writing for Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) pharmaceutical brands, with a solid grasp of writing for regulatory compliance.
  • Campaign & Platform Mastery: Proven success building integrated 360 campaigns with a strong, demonstrable emphasis on social media platforms, short-form storytelling, and consumer engagement.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of style guidelines and experience managing the medical referencing and annotation process for regulatory submission.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional storytelling ability, conceptual depth, and extreme attention to detail. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to self-manage workloads efficiently in a fast-paced, remote, freelance environment aligned with EST hours.
