Role: Production Director (Social First Content Focused)

This role oversees every aspect of production operations—from quarterly premium campaigns and creator shoots to ongoing social content—while managing the production team, production budgets, operational systems, and cross-functional execution.
You'll lead producers, production assistants, and creative production resources while ensuring every project has clear workbacks, realistic timelines, proper staffing, and seamless execution. You'll serve as the operational leader of production, partnering closely with Creative, Account Management, and Client Services to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
This is a highly strategic leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys building scalable systems, and knows how to keep multiple productions running simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
What You'll Own:
Production Department Leadership
- Lead and manage the entire Production team, including Producers, Production Coordinators, Production Assistants, freelance crew, and production vendors.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the production team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Oversee team workload, staffing plans, and resource allocation across all client accounts.
- Build scalable production systems, SOPs, and best practices as the department grows.
Production Operations
- Own all production workbacks and timelines, ensuring every shoot stays on schedule from pre-production through final delivery.
- Oversee simultaneous productions across premium, social, creator, and UGC content.
- Ensure productions remain on time, on budget, and aligned with client expectations.
- Anticipate production risks early and proactively solve issues before they impact timelines.
Budget & Financial Management
- Build and approve production budgets.
- Manage profitability across every production.
- Forecast production costs and resource needs.
- Negotiate rates with vendors, freelancers, studios, equipment rentals, and production partners.
- Identify efficiencies while maintaining creative quality.
Pre-Production
- Oversee production planning including:
- Crew staffing
- Locations
- Equipment
- Permits
- Call sheets
- Production schedules
- Travel logistics
- Vendor coordination
- Ensure every shoot is fully prepared before production begins.
Production Execution
- Oversee execution across multiple productions simultaneously.
- Support producers with on-set troubleshooting and decision-making.
- Ensure creative standards, client expectations, and production quality are maintained throughout each shoot.
- Step in when needed to solve high-level production challenges.
Post-Production
- Oversee budget consolidation coming out of the shoots
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Creative Directors, Account Directors, Strategists, and Client Services to align production plans with campaign goals.
- Participate in production planning, shoot forecasting, and client resource planning.
- Communicate production status, risks, and resource needs across departments.
Production Infrastructure
- Build and maintain scalable production systems.
- Manage production documentation, asset organization, vendor databases, and production templates.
- Continuously improve workflows to increase efficiency as the agency scales.
Ideal Background:
- 8–10+ years leading commercial, agency, or content production teams.
- Experience managing multiple Producers and cross-functional production teams.
- Proven success overseeing both premium campaign production and high-volume social content production.
- Strong financial acumen with extensive production budget ownership.
- Experience forecasting production resources across multiple clients.
- Deep network of production vendors, freelancers, studios, and crew.
- Strong understanding of social-first production, creator content, paid creative, and premium brand campaigns.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage dozens of moving pieces simultaneously.
- Calm under pressure with a proactive, solutions-first mindset.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where priorities shift quickly.
