Clutch is looking for an experienced Freelance Medical Editor for a client of ours—a specialized marketing agency focused on the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Copyedit and proofread highly regulated pharmaceutical and clinical content, including promotional materials, branded campaigns, research posters, slide decks, and website content.
  • Ensure strict adherence to AMA Manual of Style, client-specific style guides, and all FDA/OPDP regulatory standards for fair balance, claims, and referencing.
  • Collaborate directly with scientific writers, account teams, and designers to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all materials prior to medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review.
  • Verify all claims and data points against original sources (manuscripts, clinical study reports) and prepare clean, annotated files for submission.
  • Manage version control and track editorial changes accurately and efficiently through multiple rounds of client and regulatory review.

  • Expert proficiency in AMA Manual of Style (11th or latest edition) and extensive experience with medical/scientific terminology.
  • Proven ability to successfully navigate the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review process.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in grammar, syntax, factual data, and referencing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume content projects under extremely tight deadlines and production pressures.
  • Proficiency with digital annotation tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Veeva PromoMats, or similar review platforms) is a plus.
