Location: United States (Must be located in and authorized to work in the US, EST working hours)

Hybrid/On-site/Remote: Remote

Hourly Rate: Up to $45/hour

Clutch is looking for an experienced Freelance Senior Art Director for a pharma agency client of ours.


Responsibilities:

  • 360 Campaign Concepting & Art Direction: Lead the visual development of comprehensive 360-degree marketing campaigns, ensuring a cohesive and high-impact visual narrative across all integrated touchpoints, from digital to traditional media.
  • Social-First Visual Execution: Drive the visual strategy and design for social media platforms, creating highly engaging, platform-native content (static, motion, and video assets) tailored to Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) audiences.
  • Pharma & Regulatory Compliance: Translate complex medical data and brand strategies into compelling, consumer-friendly visual stories while strictly adhering to FDA regulations, legal guardrails, and fair balance requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Copywriters, Creative Directors, and Account teams within the agency setting to brainstorm, refine, and pitch innovative creative concepts that align with the client’s brand goals.
  • Production & Asset Management: Oversee the visual execution from rough concept sketches and storyboards through to final production assets, guiding production artists and motion designers to ensure pixel-perfect, compliant delivery.


Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience), combined with 5+ years of art direction experience within a pharma advertising agency setting.
  • Vertical Expertise: Proven experience working on Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) pharmaceutical brands, with a strong portfolio.
  • Campaign & Platform Mastery: Deep experience developing 360 integrated campaigns with a heavy, proven emphasis on modern social media strategy, format requirements, and audience engagement trends.
  • Technical & Design Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Figma, motion graphics software (After Effects), or video editing tools is highly preferred.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional storytelling ability, conceptual thinking, and attention to detail. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, remote, freelance environment aligned with EST hours.
