The Marketo Automation Specialist will be the in-house expert and primary administrator of the Marketo Engage platform. This role is responsible for the design, execution, maintenance, and optimization of all marketing automation programs, ensuring seamless integration with the CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and maximizing marketing ROI.


Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration & Operations:

  • Serve as the primary system administrator for Marketo, managing all aspects including user roles, data governance, and system performance.
  • Ensure seamless, bi-directional integration and data flow between Marketo and the CRM (e.g., Salesforce), troubleshooting any synchronization issues.
  • Manage and maintain database health, including segmentation, list imports, data cleansing, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Develop, document, and enforce Marketo governance, best practices, and operational processes.

Campaign Execution & Management:

  • Build, test, and deploy complex automated marketing programs, including lead nurture campaigns, email drips, event-based campaigns, and lead scoring models.
  • Create and manage all digital marketing assets within Marketo, including emails, landing pages, forms, and templates, ensuring they are mobile-responsive and align with brand guidelines.
  • Implement A/B and multivariate testing on email subject lines, content, and landing pages to continually optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with the Content and Design teams on asset creation and with the Sales team on lead management processes.

Analysis & Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain marketing performance dashboards and reports within Marketo and/or the CRM to track key metrics (e.g., email open/click rates, conversion rates, funnel velocity, campaign ROI).
  • Analyze campaign results, provide data-driven insights, and recommend actionable strategies for continuous optimization of automated programs.
  • Monitor email deliverability and maintain a strong sender reputation.

Lead Management & Scoring:

  • Own and optimize the lead scoring methodology to ensure the highest quality leads are passed to the Sales team at the appropriate time.
  • Manage the lead lifecycle process, including lead routing, qualification, and sales notification workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • [X]+ years of hands-on experience managing and administering Marketo Engage.
  • Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) Certification is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, lead generation, lead nurturing, and demand generation best practices.
  • Experience with front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS) for email and landing page development.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
