Clutch is looking for an experienced Associate Publisher for a client of ours.



The ideal candidate is a publishing leader with a passion for Spanish-language and faith-based content. In this role, you will lead the publishing strategy, manage day-to-day operations, and drive the success of key imprints. You will acquire and develop books that appeal to broad audiences and help people grow spiritually and personally. This position is a unique blend of creative vision, business acumen, and team leadership.




Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition & Development: Personally acquire and develop 8 to 12 new titles annually, ensuring the business meets its revenue and profitability goals. You will evaluate new product ideas for marketability, financial viability, and theological soundness.
  • Strategic Leadership: Guide the publishing program by identifying new authors and titles that align with the mission and market trends. You'll lead the editorial team and oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and acquisition to publication and beyond.
  • Team & Process Management: Provide direct supervision and mentorship to the editorial staff, maintaining a high standard of work quality. You will oversee editorial development, prepare and present proposals to the publishing board, and manage the product pipeline.
  • Collaboration & Vision: Collaborate with internal teams—including marketing, sales, creative, and contracts—to support titles through the publishing process. You'll represent the Publisher in key internal and external meetings and build strong relationships with ministry partners, authors, and agents.
  • Market Awareness: Stay ahead of industry trends, consumer buying patterns, and digital innovations. You'll maintain a deep understanding of the Spanish-language and Christian markets worldwide, attending relevant conferences and engaging with consumers to inform the strategy.




Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of six years of experience in Christian publishing, content development, media, or a related field.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Spanish, Communications, Journalism, Theology, Business, or a related field.
  • Bilingual Skills: Full professional proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish and English is essential.
  • Publishing & Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage teams, understand and use financial data, and negotiate publishing contracts. You should possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: A solid grasp of orthodox evangelical theology, key authors, and the doctrinal landscape of the Christian market. You should be familiar with major distribution channels and trends within the global Spanish church.
