Clutch is looking for a Footwear Technician for a client of ours.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze product fit on samples and accurately communicate technical corrections, adjustments, and specifications to overseas manufacturing facilities using detailed technical packages.
- Review and evaluate patterns, construction, and product quality to ensure alignment with design intent, standards, and production feasibility.
- Assist in the resolution of fitting and construction problems identified during the product development and sampling process.
- Perform thorough risk assessments for new materials, construction methods, and tooling to anticipate and mitigate potential quality or manufacturing issues.
- Evaluate and confirm technical tooling, including reviewing blueprint and mock-up molds from the initial 2D drawings/specs through to the final stage.
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create, edit, and maintain technical renderings, blueprints, and detailed specification sheets.
- Assist the footwear technical team in organizing, maintaining, and updating the internal last library and ensuring all tooling standards are correctly cataloged.
- Ensure all products adhere to industry standards regarding last, outsole mold, and pattern specifications.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience in a Footwear technical role (Footwear Technician, Developer, or Pattern Maker)
- Proven experience with last, outsole mold, and pattern standards in the footwear industry.
- Ability to analyze fit and accurately communicate detailed technical corrections and tooling adjustments to factories.
- Strong technical rendering and communication experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Some experience in 3D software and 3D printing is a preferred (Rhino, Blender, or similar)
- Experience evaluating and confirming tooling, specifically reviewing blueprint and mock-up molds from initial drawing to confirmation.
- Must be able to travel overseas to support development and production.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Engineering) or similar work experience.
