About the Role
Our client is seeking a Financial Planning Associate/Paraplanner to support lead advisors in delivering comprehensive, client-centered financial plans while gaining hands-on experience. This role is ideal for a CFP® who enjoys financial analysis, building client plans, and developing technical expertise across all major planning areas. The position provides direct exposure to retirement, tax, insurance, estate, and Social Security planning and is structured to help satisfy the CFP Board’s experience requirement.
Responsibilities
- Gather, organize, and analyze client financial data
- Build and maintain comprehensive financial plans using planning software
- Perform retirement, tax, Social Security, insurance, and estate planning analysis
- Prepare near-final financial plans and client-ready planning deliverables
- Draft strategy summaries and planning recommendations for advisor review
- Prepare meeting materials and support client and prospect meetings
- Update plans and track recommendation implementation
- Collaborate closely with CFP® professionals and adhere to ethical and compliance standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (finance, psychology, economics, or business a plus)
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in a financial planning, paraplanning, or advisor support role
- Experience supporting comprehensive financial planning, including retirement, tax, insurance, and estate planning
- Proficiency with at least one financial planning software platform (e.g., eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, RightCapital)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with accurate data entry and documentation practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Professional, collaborative work style and ability to support advisors and clients
- Commitment to ethical standards, compliance requirements, and client-centric planning
- Must be able to pass a background check, credit check, and drug screen
Preferred Skills
- CFP® certificant, candidate, or demonstrated intent to pursue CFP® certification
- Experience directly supporting CFP® professionals
- 3+ years of experience in a financial advisory or wealth management firm
- Experience with additional tools such as CRM systems
- Familiarity with investment accounts, retirement plans, and basic tax strategies
- Experience preparing near-final financial plans or client-ready deliverables
- Desire to grow into a senior planning or advisor role
