Job Title: Controller


Location: Rochester, NY (Hybrid flexibility available)

Travel: Minimal

Compensation: $113,000 – $130,000 + bonus potential

Reporting Structure: Reports to senior finance leadership; oversees a small, collaborative finance team and works cross-functionally across operations, leadership, and global stakeholders.

A globally recognized medical manufacturing organization is seeking a Controller to play a critical leadership role within its finance function. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all financial operations, including month-end close, reporting, and audit processes
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and internal controls
  • Develop, implement, and improve financial policies, procedures, and processes
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations that support business decisions
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and support all audit activities
  • Oversee treasury functions, including banking relationships and liquidity management
  • Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement
  • Support strategic initiatives, including potential M&A activities and organizational structuring
  • Mentor and develop finance team members while fostering a collaborative environment

  

Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience managing month-end close, audits, and financial controls
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to communicate financial insights clearly to leadership
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

 

Nice-to-Have / Preferred

  • CPA certification
  • Experience in manufacturing or regulated environments (medical device, pharma, etc.)
  • Exposure to cost accounting or operational finance
