Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Rochester, NY area (primarily on-site; overtime as needed)

Job Summary and Essential Duties
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for a broad range of activities within the product development lifecycle. This role involves assessing customer specifications for technical feasibility, conducting design studies, and performing system-level analyses to determine optimal design and production approaches. The Senior Systems Engineer will evaluate existing systems and manufacturing capabilities, identify potential gaps, and work collaboratively to specify new processes, equipment, or testing methods as needed. This is a primarily on-site position with approximately 10% travel, including visits to customer sites or participation in technical and professional conferences.
Through on-the-job training (OJT) and application of prior experience, the Senior Systems Engineer will:
· Lead cross-functional teams to plan project workflows, ensuring deliverables meet customer expectations for cost, schedule, and quality.
· Develop internal documentation and create comprehensive test and validation plans that meet customer or program requirements.
· Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot complex technical challenges, reporting results clearly through written reports and presentations.
· Prepare and present design review materials in customer-facing or large group settings.
· Lead or support prototype testing and validation activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
· B.S. in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field required.
· M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or Applied Science preferred.
· 5–15 years of experience in system design, modeling, or simulation using relevant design software tools.
· Experience with precision testing and metrology techniques preferred.
· Demonstrated success in prototype design, testing, and delivery.
· Strong understanding of precision systems and performance metrics.
· Experience with metrology or quality verification of technical assemblies.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
· Proven teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to document, interpret, and present technical data effectively.
· Demonstrated capability to assess complex challenges and develop sound technical solutions.
Desired Experience
· Experience with advanced electronic or mechanical system design is a plus (not required).
· Background in large-scale or high-precision assemblies beneficial.
· Prior experience as a program or project technical lead.
· Familiarity with controlled manufacturing environments and cleanroom practices.
· Experience producing engineering drawings and documentation standards.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
