EHS Manager (Environmental, Health & Safety)
Location: Rochester, NY (Onsite)
Industry: Global diagnostics / life sciences manufacturing
Travel: Up to 10% (domestic, as needed)
Reports to: Site / Campus Leadership (with indirect leadership of site EHS professionals)
Compensation: $150K salary range + 20% Bonus benefits (commensurate with experience)
The Opportunity
A global, innovation-driven organization in the life sciences and diagnostics space is seeking an EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety programs across a multi-site manufacturing and R&D campus in Rochester, NY.
This is a high-visibility role with responsibility for driving EHS compliance, risk mitigation, and environmental sustainability across manufacturing, laboratories, offices, and facilities operations. The role combines hands-on site engagement with strategic leadership, offering the opportunity to shape a proactive EHS culture while maintaining best-in-class regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead EHS compliance programs across multiple campus sites, including Manufacturing, R&D, Quality Labs, Facilities, and Administrative functions
- Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS risk mitigation and culture transformation strategy
- Partner with site leadership to identify, assess, control, and monitor EHS risks
- Lead or support EHS investigations and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented and communicated
- Drive environmental sustainability initiatives, including energy, waste management, and compliance program standardization
- Maintain site certifications, including ISO 14001 and OSHA VPP
- Develop policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
- Lead Emergency Services and participate in Emergency Response Teams
- Indirectly manage site EHS professionals and elevate team capability and performance
- Identify and implement cost efficiencies across EHS and waste management programs
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (any discipline)
- 5+ years of experience in Occupational Safety, Environmental Compliance, and/or Industrial Hygiene
- Experience working in manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated environments
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulations
- Ability to influence across levels and functions in a complex organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field
- Safety or environmental certifications (ASP, CSP, CHMM)
- Experience with ISO 14001, OSHA VPP, and EHS data/reporting systems
- Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
