Job Title: CNC Milling Technician

Location: Roscoe, IL

Department: Milling / Secondary Operations

Shift: 3rd

Role Overview

As a CNC Milling Technician at Our Client, you will produce high-precision components that serve as the foundation for the world’s most sophisticated gear systems. We are looking for a technician who thrives in a "high-mix, low-volume" environment where quality and precision (down to the micron) are the only metrics that matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setup & Operation: Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC Milling centers (such as Haas, Makino, or Matsuura) to produce gear blanks, housings, and specialized components.
  • Precision Work: Maintain extremely tight tolerances, often within $\pm 0.0001"$, ensuring parts are perfectly prepped for subsequent gear-cutting processes.
  • Blueprint Proficiency: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, job travelers, and advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
  • Inspection: Conduct thorough in-process inspections using high-end metrology tools, including digital micrometers, bore gages, and height stands.
  • Tooling Management: Monitor tool wear, perform offsets, and change inserts or specialized cutters to maintain part finish and dimensional accuracy.
  • Shop Excellence: Maintain a clean, organized workstation in accordance with 5S standards to ensure safety and efficiency.

Technical Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in CNC Milling setup and operation in a high-precision job shop or aerospace environment.
  • Math Skills: Strong proficiency in shop math, including Trigonometry and Geometry, for part verification and offset calculations.
  • Control Knowledge: Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or Makino Professional controls is highly preferred.
  • Materials: Experience machining a wide array of materials, from standard steels to aerospace alloys, titanium, and engineered plastics.
  • Quality Mindset: An uncompromising eye for detail; you understand that these parts are going to Mars, into aircraft engines, or life-saving medical devices.
