GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Responsible for the caring for the patient and development of nursing plan of care. Responsible to be an active member of the ARU multidisciplinary team.

· Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Attends set treatment team meetings and progress reviews as evidence by signature on treatment planning update forms.
· Uses positive/effective communication with patients, visitors, associates and others.
· Takes action to resolve customer complaints
· Completes initial assessment, evaluation, treatment and progress as evidenced by initial assessment forms completed in the medical record and documentation in the progress notes.
· Completes a plan of care for all patients and carries it through
· Takes pride in the health center. Acts as an ambassador for Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Treats ORHC equipment, supplies and resources with care and uses them efficiently
· Demonstrates integrity. Is honest in dealing with others. Ensures the privacy and confidentiality of patient and business-related information. Maintains accurate records.

· Communication Demonstrates clear, concise and direct communication with customers, unit leadership and multidisciplinary team members by:
· Administration of medication accurately
· Attends required training and continuing education as evidenced by attendance forms that will be added to personnel file.
· Completes all competency requirements as evidenced by completion forms, these will be completed annually or per hospital requirements.
· Regular attendance is an essential function of this job
· Attends mandatory meetings and in-services.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Possesses the specialized knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide care for people with physical limitations and chronic illness.
· Performs hand-on nursing by utilizing the nursing process to achieve quality outcomes for patients.
· Provides direction and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel through appropriate delegation.
· Demonstrates professional judgment and uses problem solving when utilizing technology and time management principals.
· Coordinates nursing care activities in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary rehab team to facilitate achievement of overall goals.
· Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills to develop a rapport with clients, families and health team members to ensure the fulfillment of requirements for legal documentation and reimbursement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the ARU Nurse Manager and the ARU Director and is responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. S/He performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job
· Ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate plans of care for the patient population.
· Should have a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic activities for admitted patients in a Acute Rehabilitation setting.
EDUCATION
· Graduate of a Registered Nursing program.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
· Current BCLS certification
· Current Iowa Registered Nurse License or compact state nursing license giving the ability to practice In Iowa.
