The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for providing nursing care for assigned patients. S/He performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
SUPERVISOR –Director of Women and Family Unit
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Providing direct nursing care for patients of the Women and Family Center including women in labor, post-delivery, post-surgical, newborn nursery, special care nursery, and pediatrics.
Completing physical and psychosocial assessments of assigned patients
Creating/updating/individualizing Nursing Care Plans for assigned patients in collaboration with the patient and their significant others
Implementing Nursing Care Plan
Evaluating Nursing Care Plan
Implementing and contributing the Medical Plan of Care
Collaborating with other disciplines to provide holistic patient care
Acknowledging physician orders using computerized order entry system
Documenting patient care and responses to care per standards using electronic medical record
Preparing and administering medications using the 5 rights of medication administration
Demonstrating consistent and expanding critical thinking skills
Work as part of team supporting WFC staff and other disciplines to provide very good, quality patient care.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Other duties as assigned.
Must Have:
Graduate of a program for Registered Nursing
Current Iowa Registered Nurse License or compact state nursing license giving the ability to practice In Iowa.
Current BCLS certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Prefer prior experience in Maternal Child Nursing or Medical/Surgical nursing, but not required.
Ability to organize and multi task with respect to a fluctuating census
Strong communication skills

EDUCATION
Graduate of a program for Registered Nursing
EXPERIENCE
Prefer prior experience in Maternal Child Nursing or Medical/Surgical nursing, but not required
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
Current Iowa Registered Nurse License or compact state nursing license giving the ability to practice In Iowa.
Current BCLS certification
Certification in NRP required within 12 months (offered through ORHC)
Course in basic fetal monitoring required within 12 months
