Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, testing, and technical support of the company’s surge protection and power quality products. This role ensures products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting manufacturing operations and technical sales efforts.

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides both strategic direction and hands-on engineering expertise. The position works closely with sales, production, and leadership to maintain product quality, support customer technical needs, and ensure continued compliance with applicable electrical standards.

This role serves as the company’s technical authority for product design, testing, regulatory compliance, and field engineering support.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Product Development

·       Lead electrical engineering design and development of surge protection and power quality products

·       Conduct research and development activities for new and existing products

·       Review product designs, schematics, technical specifications, and recommend design improvements

·       Support manufacturing processes

Testing & Technical Analysis

·       Develop and implement product testing procedures and validation protocols to establish testing parameters and methodologies

·       Operate and oversee engineering test equipment specific to the manufacturing process of power quality devices

Compliance & Certification

·       Maintain compliance with applicable UL standards and certification requirements

·       Coordinate testing with outside laboratories as required

·       Monitor applicable industry standards and regulatory changes

Customer Technical Support & Sales Engineering

·       Provide technical support for sales proposals, product selections, and plan reviews

·       Assist in development of technical documentation

·       Support sales representatives, distributors, and value-added resellers with technical questions

·       Participate in customer presentations and technical meetings as needed

Field Engineering & Technical Surveys

·       Conduct site surveys for surge protection recommendations and electrical system requirements

·       Perform grounding system and power quality surveys

·       Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on site assessments

Industry Representation

·       Participate in relevant industry organizations, including IEEE, UL, NEMA, and NEC standards committees

·       Maintain awareness of industry developments and competitive technologies

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience required

·       5+ years of electrical engineering experience preferred

·       Experience with surge protection, power quality equipment, or electrical distribution systems a plus

·       Experience with NRTL certification processes and electrical safety standards preferred

·       Experience working with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools preferred

Work Environment

·       Combination of office and occasional field environments

·       May require working with electrical testing equipment

·       Occasional travel for site surveys, customer meetings, or industry events may be required
