The Opportunity
At our client, "good enough" is never the standard. As a CNC Milling Technician, you aren’t just pushing buttons; you are a critical link in a manufacturing chain that supplies the aerospace, defense, and medical industries. You will set up and operate advanced vertical and horizontal machining centers to produce the high-precision blanks and components that will eventually become world-class gears.
Key Responsibilities
-
Precision Setup: Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Mills (primarily Haas 3 & 4-axis VMCs and Makino Horizontal centers) for complex, low-volume, high-mix production.
-
Tolerance Management: Hold incredibly tight tolerances (often within $\pm 0.0001"$) on a variety of materials including stainless steel, titanium, and bronze.
-
Metrology & Inspection: Use high-end inspection tools—micrometers, height gages, and optical comparators—to verify that every part matches the "Job Traveler" and engineering prints.
-
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize cycle times, improve tool life, and refine fixturing to uphold our motto of "Excellence Without Exception."
-
Collaborative Production: Work alongside the gear-cutting department to ensure blanks are perfectly prepped for hobbing, shaping, and grinding.
Technical Qualifications
-
Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in CNC milling setup and operation (Haas or Makino experience is a major plus).
-
Math Skills: Strong proficiency in shop math, specifically Trigonometry and Geometry, for calculating offsets and verifying part dimensions.
-
Blueprints: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
-
Programming: Basic knowledge of G-code/M-code to make necessary adjustments at the machine controller.
-
Secondary Operations: Experience with honing, lapping, or deburring is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs regularly.
