Graphic Designer Intern


SUMMARY:

SM is a growing full-service marketing agency that partners with mission-driven organizations. We’re looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team and play a key role in executing creative work across client and internal projects.


This is a hands-on execution role for a designer who is creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning work from concept through final delivery. You’ll bring ideas to life based on clear creative direction and collaborate with a small, fast-moving team.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our Graphic Designer, you’ll be responsible for translating ideas and direction into strong, original visual work across a range of marketing and communications materials.


You won’t be starting from templates. This role requires an understanding of layout, hierarchy, and visual storytelling, as well as the ability to execute consistently and accurately.


You’ll work from clear creative direction and collaborate closely with a thoughtful, experienced team.


WE’RE SEEKING SOMEONE WHO:

• Has a strong portfolio demonstrating original, thoughtful design

• Is comfortable working across both digital and print

• Understands layout, hierarchy, and visual flow

• Pays close attention to detail and accuracy

• Communicates clearly and follows through


YOU’LL WORK ON:

• Marketing and campaign assets

• Social media graphics

• Web and landing page visuals

• Presentations, reports, and one-pagers

• Branded templates and visual systems


YOU’LL WORK ALONGSIDE:

• A Founder/CEO who provides creative direction and strategic context

• A Chief of Staff who provides operational guidance and support with personnel matters

• An Art Director for big-picture visual guidance

• A Marketing Communications Manager who leads messaging and copy

• A Project Manager who helps prioritize work and manage timelines

• Creative operations support to assist with QA and asset organization


TOOLS & SKILLS THAT OUR DESIGNERS USE:

• Adobe Illustrator

• Adobe Photoshop

• InDesign

• Figma

• Canva experience is helpful but not required

• Experience with marketing or agency work is a plus


WORKING STYLE:

• Availability between 10-15 hours per week

• Long-term mindset

• Comfortable working remotely

• Organized, dependable, and proactive

LA County Subsidy Eligible Position Information 


Subsidy roles require students to have an LA County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):


  • Identification (School or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (Please ensure that it is signed).
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Proof of Los Angeles County Residency, including a postmarked date (Report Card, Transcripts, or any mail that is under the applicant’s name).
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination OR valid medical/religious exemption.
  • The Youth Center (AJCC) will be paying you for 160 completed hours.
  • You will be required to submit timesheets to your youth center (AJCC) to be paid for your time worked.


NOTE: IF YOU WERE ALREADY PLACED IN A SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION UNTIL JULY 1ST.
