PlayWerks is an interactive media company that creates high quality multi-platform immersive games and experiences that engage children and adults. WhizGirls Academy is where students engage in project based learning and gamification that help them with tech and digital literacy while acquiring coding skills, entrepreneurship tools, and building confidence and growing as members of their communities with a healthy balanced lifestyle slant.
  • The Academy Intern will the learn the ins-and-outs of the company. The intern will have the opportunity to gain insight on how an organization runs, but also dive into the social impact of tech in the kid space.

Who Are You? 

 

The PlayWerks & WhizGirls Academy is seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our growing startup organization. In this position, you will work closely with the founder, other programmers, designers, and artists to bring various projects to life. 


Responsiblities


  • Perform market analysis and research on the latest trends.
  • Monitor all social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback.
  • Research and evaluate competitor marketing and digital content.
  • Contribute to the creation of mock-ups, email campaigns, and social media content.
  • Gather information through surveys or by speaking to clients and staff.
  • Attending and participating in meetings, workshops, events, and exhibitions.
  • Reviewing sales performance against sales targets.
  • Identifying potential weaknesses and offering improvement suggestions.
  • Keeping a log of everything learned and delivering presentations to staff and other stakeholders. 

 

Your Background 

 

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate course for marketing, business, or similar field.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Good understanding of the latest sales trends and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interested in learning about games, gamification, project based learning and game programming!
  • Experience working with kids

 

Subsidy Role Information

 

Subsidy roles require students to have an LA County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):


  • Identification (School or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (Please ensure that it is signed)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Los Angeles County Residency, including a postmarked date (Report Card, Transcripts, or any mail that is under the applicant’s name)
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination OR valid medical/religious exemption
  • The Youth Center (AJCC) WILL BE PAYING YOU for 160 completed hours.
  • You will be required to submit Timesheets to your YOUTH CENTER (AJCC) to be paid for your time worked.


*NOTE IF YOU WERE ALREADY PLACED IN A SUBSIDY POSITION (ACADEMY/INTERNSHIP). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR SUBSIDY ROLES UNTIL THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR*

 

Position Summary

 

  • Hours: 25hrs/week 
  • Compesnation: $17.87/hr
  • Open to Ages 18-24 Only 
  • Hybrid
  • Anticipated Start Date: TBD
