Marketing Intern

Affirmation Darling is a mission-driven wellness and lifestyle brand rooted in lived experience. What began as a survival tool during homelessness has grown into a nationally recognized brand, featured by companies like Soho House, NBCUniversal, Thrive Causemetics, Create & Cultivate and EDC. We’ve donated over 800 affirmation products to shelters and community organizations, and our collection is now stocked in 70+ boutiques across 8 countries. 


Position Overview 

We're seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing Intern to support email marketing, newsletter drafting, deck creation, and brand storytelling. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who loves writing, visual communication, and researching trends — and who is eager to contribute to a high-impact, purpose-led CPG brand. This internship is ideal for someone looking to build real-world skills in content creation and brand marketing while working closely with a founder. Special focus will be placed on preparing email and deck assets for corporate gifting and Q4 holiday outreach, helping us show up powerfully to companies, brands, and community partners ahead of the fall season. 


Responsibilities 

● Draft one email newsletter per month using Klaviyo (no send access required) 

● Research email trends from similar wellness and lifestyle brands 

● Propose fresh themes based on seasonal relevance or product news 

● Assist with creating branded pitch decks in Canva or Google Slides 

● Customize each deck by audience (retail buyer, nonprofit, corporate) 

● Conduct competitive research on gifting programs, pop-up strategies, and workshop formats

● Organize all drafts in shared folders for weekly review 


Ideal Candidate 

● Strong writing skills — can craft content that feels personal, not templated 

● Organized, self-starting, comfortable with async work 

● Genuine interest in wellness, lifestyle, or mission-driven brands 

● Familiar with Claude, ChatGPT, Canva, Klaviyo, Substack, Trello (or eager to learn) 


Internship Structure

Total Hours: 160 hours (covered by LA-Tech subsidy) 

Weekly Hours: Avg. 12 hours/week (flexible by phase) 

● Fully remote with async-friendly structure 

● Weekly check-ins via Zoom or Google Doc

LA County Subsidy Eligible Position Information 


Subsidy roles require students to have an LA County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):


  • Identification (School or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (Please ensure that it is signed).
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Proof of Los Angeles County Residency, including a postmarked date (Report Card, Transcripts, or any mail that is under the applicant’s name).
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination OR valid medical/religious exemption.
  • The Youth Center (AJCC) will be paying you for 160 completed hours.
  • You will be required to submit timesheets to your youth center (AJCC) to be paid for your time worked.


NOTE: IF YOU WERE ALREADY PLACED IN A SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION UNTIL JULY 1ST.
