Hot Grease — Social Media & Brand Marketing Intern
About Hot Grease
Hot Grease is a Southern food and culture brand rooted in the Black fish fry tradition, community
storytelling, and mutual aid. Based in Southern California, Hot Grease blends crispy fried snapper, original
sauces, zines, music, and cultural programming into an experience that feels soulful, rebellious, and deeply
communal.
Hot Grease is building toward expansion into events, catering, and a consumer packaged goods (CPG) line
beginning with its signature “Ill Dill” tartar sauce.
Internship Overview
Hot Grease is seeking a creative, organized, and culturally aware Social Media & Brand Marketing Intern to
support content creation, audience engagement, and early-stage marketing efforts for both the Hot Grease
brand and the upcoming Ill Dill sauce launch.
This internship is ideal for someone interested in:
● Food media
● Cultural storytelling
● Social media marketing
● Community-centered brands
● Music/fashion/creative culture
● CPG brand launches
● Grassroots marketing
● The intern will work directly with the founder to help document the growth of a fast-scaling food brand with
strong cultural identity and community impact.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Content
● Assist with Instagram, TikTok, and newsletter content planning
● Help capture behind-the-scenes footage at pop-ups, prep days, and events
● Edit short-form video content and reels
● Research trends, sounds, and cultural moments relevant to the brand
● Draft captions aligned with the Hot Grease voice and tone
● Support community engagement across social platforms
Ill Dill CPG Launch Support
● Help build excitement and visibility around the Ill Dill tartar sauce launch
● Assist with waitlist growth and audience outreach
● Support content ideas for product storytelling, taste tests, and consumer education
● Research local retail opportunities, pop-ups, and activation ideas
● Assist with organizing feedback and customer interest data
Marketing & Brand Support
● Assist with flyer distribution and promotional strategy
● Help identify creators, influencers, and collaborators aligned with the brand
● Support event marketing efforts
● Help organize digital assets and content calendars
Ideal Candidate
● Passionate about culture, food, music, art, or storytelling
● Familiar with Instagram, TikTok, and short-form content
● Comfortable filming content on a phone
● Organized and self-motivated
● Interested in grassroots/community-centered marketing
● Bonus: photography, video editing, Canva, Mailchimp, or design skills

LA County Subsidy Eligible Position Information
Subsidy roles require students to have an LA County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):
