Digital Marketing Intern

Location: On-site, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles

Hours: 8–20 hours per week based on availability

About the Role

This internship gives students hands-on experience helping small business owners build and refine their online presence to reach more customers and improve conversions.

Many small businesses do not have updated Yelp pages, Google Business Profiles, social media accounts, or websites. This role focuses on changing that. Interns will work directly with local founders to create, improve, and connect these platforms into a cohesive marketing presence that supports real business growth.

You do not need to know how to do everything already. You will be trained on how to set up and manage these platforms and, more importantly, how to think about them strategically so they work together.

This is an ideal role for a student who is curious about marketing strategy, enjoys working with people, and has a good eye for what looks clean, professional, and engaging online.

What You Will Do

● Work directly with small business owners to understand their business and customers

● Create and update:

○ Yelp business pages

○ Google Business Profiles

○ Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other social media accounts

● Help design and build simple, professional websites for business owners

● Create branded visuals and marketing materials using Canva

● Ensure all platforms have consistent messaging, visuals, and information

● Teach business owners how to use and manage their accounts after setup

● Learn how different platforms support each other in a cohesive marketing strategy

● Support ongoing updates and improvements to existing online profiles

What You Will Learn

● How marketing strategy translates into real digital presence for small businesses

● How local discovery works through Yelp, Google, and social platforms

● How to create a cohesive brand presence across multiple platforms

● How to communicate with founders and translate their vision into online content

● Practical skills in digital marketing, platform setup, and small business support

Qualifications

● Comfortable navigating platforms like Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Yelp, and Google

● Experience using Canva

● Strong interest in marketing strategy and branding

● Good eye for design and what looks professional online

● Enjoys talking with founders and learning about different businesses

● Organized, patient, and able to explain things clearly to non-technical users

● Willingness to learn and take initiative

Ideal Candidate

You are someone who:

● Notices when a business’s online presence looks outdated or inconsistent

● Thinks about how platforms should connect rather than exist separately

● Enjoys helping people and explaining how tools work

● Wants real, practical marketing experience that goes beyond posting content
