Grid110: Community Engagement Intern

Role Overview
The Community Engagement Intern supports Grid110's efforts to build, maintain, and activate our vibrant alumni community while contributing to broader community engagement and marketing initiatives. This role focuses on keeping Grid110 alumni connected, engaged, and thriving while supporting content creation, social media, and ecosystem relationship building. The Community Engagement Intern works closely with the Program Manager and Marketing to strengthen Grid110’s community presence and amplify founder stories across Los Angeles.
Core Responsibilities
Alumni Engagement & Community Building
- Support planning and execution of alumni events including quarterly gatherings, networking sessions, and celebrations
- Help maintain regular communication with alumni through newsletters, Slack engagement, and personal outreach
- Gather alumni updates, success stories, and milestones for sharing across Grid110 channels
- Assist with alumni resource sharing including job opportunities, partnerships, and ecosystem connections
- Help facilitate peer-to-peer connections among alumni based on industry, interests, or needs
- Track alumni engagement metrics and identify opportunities to increase participation
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Conduct interviews with founders (current and alumni) to capture testimonials, success stories, and program impact
- Help create content highlighting founder journeys, company milestones, and community wins
- Capture photos, videos, and quotes at events and programming for social media and marketing materials
- Assist with writing blog posts, social media captions, and newsletter content
- Help develop case studies showcasing alumni company growth and outcomes
- Support impact reporting by gathering qualitative and quantitative founder stories
Social Media & Marketing Support
- Assist with social media content creation across Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms
- Help manage Grid110's online community presence and engagement
- Support social media campaigns for program launches, events, and founder spotlights
- Monitor social media for founder posts to reshare and amplify
- Help maintain brand consistency across communications and marketing materials
- Assist with graphic design using Canva for social posts and event materials
- Help compile and create marketing materials for our annual equity report
Community Events & Programming
- Support planning and execution of broader community events including panels, workshops, and networking sessions (beyond active cohort programming)
- Assist with event logistics including promotion, registration management, and day-of coordination
- Help create welcoming, engaging experiences that foster connection and belonging
- Coordinate post-event follow-up including thank you messages, photo sharing, and feedback collection
- Support community touchpoints and special initiatives
- Help capture and share event highlights across social media and communications channels
Ecosystem Relationship Building
- Attend local entrepreneurship events to represent Grid110 and build ecosystem relationships
- Help identify partnership opportunities with other organizations, accelerators, and community groups
- Support coordination of collaborative events and initiatives with ecosystem partners
- Assist with maintaining database of ecosystem contacts and partners
- Help facilitate introductions between founders and relevant ecosystem resources
- Support Grid110's presence and visibility in the LA entrepreneurship community
Database Management & Communications
- Help maintain alumni database with updated contact information, company progress, and history
- Assist with segmenting community for targeted communications and engagement strategies
- Support management of community platforms including Slack, email lists, and social channels
- Track community engagement data and help identify trends and opportunities
- Assist with survey distribution and feedback collection from alumni and community members

LA County Subsidy Eligible Position Information
Subsidy roles require students to have an LA County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):
- Identification (School or State ID).
- Social Security Card (Please ensure that it is signed).
- Birth Certificate.
- Proof of Los Angeles County Residency, including a postmarked date (Report Card, Transcripts, or any mail that is under the applicant’s name).
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination OR valid medical/religious exemption.
- The Youth Center (AJCC) will be paying you for 160 completed hours.
- You will be required to submit timesheets to your youth center (AJCC) to be paid for your time worked.
NOTE: IF YOU WERE ALREADY PLACED IN A SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER SUBSIDY ELIGIBLE POSITION UNTIL JULY 1ST.
