Financial Analysis Intern
Location: On-site, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles
Hours: 8–20 hours per week based on availability
About the Role
This internship gives students hands-on experience helping small business owners organize their financial information to prepare for tax season and improve how their business operates long-term.
Many small businesses have sales, expenses, and receipts, but do not have clear income statements or systems to track their finances. In this role, you will work directly with founders to turn their records into organized financial statements and help them build simple systems to track their business moving forward.
Beyond preparing documents for taxes, this role focuses on learning how financial information can guide better decisions around pricing, costs, marketing, and profitability.
You will be trained using our templates and guided through the process.
What You Will Do
● Work with small business owners to gather sales and expense information
● Create organized income statements and basic financial summaries
● Help business owners set up simple systems to track finances going forward
● Use financial data to identify opportunities to:
○ Improve margins
○ Adjust pricing
○ Reduce unnecessary costs
○ Support marketing and growth decisions
● Translate financial information into practical insights for business consultants What You Will Learn
● How financial statements are built from real business activity
● How to read an income statement to understand business health
● How finance influences pricing, marketing, and operations
● How to support small business owners with practical financial tools
Qualifications
● Interest in finance, business, or accounting
● Basic familiarity with financial statements (income statement, expenses, revenue)
● Comfortable working in Excel
● Organized, detail-oriented, and patient when working with founders
● Willingness to learn and apply financial concepts in real situations
