Who Are We?

 

Kinlia is a fast-growing web and mobile platform whose mission is to address the social health/loneliness crisis through the use of AI. Our three spearhead products are:


1) AI-Powered Personalized Event Curation – AI crawls the web to create customized event lists based on user preferences.

2) Small Group Matching – AI matches people with shared interests into small groups, reducing social anxiety and increasing participation.

3) Empowering Community Builders – Kinlia is building a community of event organizers, connecting them to share resources and best practices while providing tools to promote events, engage attendees, and grow their communities.

 

Who Are You? 


Kinlia is seeking a Software Development Intern to join our team and work on enhancing both web and mobile applications using React and React Native. In this role, you will implement responsive UI/UX designs, integrate front-end components with backend services, and optimize platform performance. You will also develop and execute tests to ensure high-quality applications, collaborate with the AI team to manage data flow, and integrate third-party APIs. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the development of a dynamic platform.


Key Responsibilities


  • Front-End Development (Mobile & Web):
  • Develop and enhance web and mobile applications using React and React Native.
  • Implement responsive and intuitive UI/UX designs.
  • Integrate front-end components with backend services and REST APIs.
  • Write reusable code to optimize platform performance.
  • Performance Optimization & Testing:
  • Develop end-to-end tests to ensure application quality.
  • Monitor application performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Write and execute unit and integration tests.
  • Assist in automating testing and deployment processes.
  • Data Handling & API Integration:
  • Collaborate with the AI team to manage data flow between AI models and the application.
  • Integrate third-party APIs for event aggregation and user interaction.
  • Debug and resolve data processing and API-related issues

 

Qualifications


  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. [Flexible]
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, VS Code, Git, and Jira.
  • Proficiency in React and React Native for front-end development.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and data handling.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Passion for building user-friendly applications that enhance social connection.


Bonus Skills


  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Interest in event-based platforms, social health, and community building.

Subsidy Role Information 


Subsidy roles require students to have an Los Angeles County based address, and be between the ages of 18-24 years old. Once you are placed in a subsidy eligible position you will be required to present the following documents to processed in a Youth Center (AJCC):


  • Identification (School or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (Please ensure that it is signed)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Los Angeles County Residency, including a postmarked date (Report Card, Transcripts, or any mail that is under the applicant’s name)
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination OR valid medical/religious exemption
  • Work Permit (Required for Youth between the ages of 16-17 only)
  • The Youth Center (AJCC) WILL BE PAYING YOU for 160 completed hours.
  • You will be required to submit Timesheets to your YOUTH CENTER (AJCC) to be paid for your time worked.


*NOTE IF YOU WERE ALREADY PLACED IN A SUBSIDY POSITION (ACADEMY/INTERNSHIP). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR SUBSIDY ROLES UNTIL JULY 2025*
