Marketing & Partnerships Intern

Company: Affirmation Darling

Location: Remote

Affirmation Darling is a mission-driven wellness and lifestyle brand rooted in lived experience. What began as a survival tool during homelessness has grown into a nationally recognized brand, featured by companies like Soho House, NBCUniversal, Thrive Causemetics, and EDC. We’ve donated over 800 affirmation products to shelters and community organizations, and our collection is now stocked in 70+ boutiques across 8 countries.

As we enter our next chapter of growth, we’re looking for a motivated intern to join our small but mighty team and help us expand our impact, especially heading into the corporate gifting season this fall.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Marketing & Partnerships Intern to support outreach strategy, email marketing, deck creation, and relationship building across wholesale, gifting, events, and press. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who loves systems, organization, and storytelling, and who is eager to contribute to a high-impact, purpose-led CPG brand.

This internship is ideal for someone looking to build real-world skills in marketing, communication, and outreach while working closely with a founder. Special focus will be placed on preparing for corporate gifting and Q4 holiday outreach, helping us pitch our product line to companies, brands, and community partners in advance of the fall season.

Responsibilities

Outreach Research & Support

  • Identify aligned influencers, therapists, podcast hosts, buyers, and journalists who fit our mission
  • Build corporate gifting contact lists (HR teams, DEI leads, wellness coordinators, event managers, etc.)
  • Collect key info including contact details, brand alignment notes, and engagement stats
  • Maintain a structured contact tracker using Google Sheets or Notion

Email Drafting & Partnership Communication

  • Write personalized email drafts across 5 key verticals:
  • Influencer gifting
  • Corporate gifting
  • Wholesale stockists
  • Workshop partnerships (e.g., nonprofits, shelters)
  • Event collaborations (e.g., brand pop-ups or festival partnerships with aligned brands)
  • Follow brand tone and outreach templates provided by the founder
  • Organize email drafts in shared folders for weekly review and feedback

Deck Creation & Visual Support

  • Assist with creating branded pitch decks using Canva or Google Slides
  • Customize each deck based on audience (e.g., retail buyer vs nonprofit vs corporate team)
  • Incorporate visual assets and storytelling elements that reflect the brand’s mission

Newsletter Drafting & Trend Analysis

  • Draft one email newsletter per month using Klaviyo (no send access required)
  • Research email trends from similar wellness and lifestyle brands (Substack, Klaviyo, IG)
  • Propose fresh, relevant themes based on seasonal relevance or product news
  • Organize drafts for review and approval before scheduling

Special Projects & Ad Hoc Support

  • Conduct competitive research on gifting programs, pop-up strategies, or workshop formats

Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent writing, research, and communication skills
  • Naturally organized and loves building systems to stay on top of details
  • Familiar with wellness, lifestyle, or mission-driven CPG brands
  • Familiar with email platforms like Klaviyo and visual tools like Canva
  • Curious, self-starting, and eager to learn — but also comfortable receiving direction and feedback
  • Emotionally intelligent and intentional in communication — understands how to build lasting relationships without being transactional

Learning Outcome

  • Gain experience in real-world brand partnerships and communications
  • Learn how to structure outreach, gifting campaigns, and brand decks
  • Learn how founder-led brands show up across email, retail, and impact channels
  • Build a portfolio of work that includes writing, research, and brand strategy

Internship Structure

  • Start Date: TBD
  • Total Hours: 160 hours (covered by LA-Tech subsidy)
  • Weekly Hours: Avg. 12 hours/week (flexible by phase)
  • Fully remote with async-friendly structure
  • Weekly check-ins via Zoom, or Google Doc

We value diversity, equity, and inclusion at Affirmation Darling. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We encourage all to apply — you will be welcomed and included as a team member and valued for your contributions and who you are.
