Procurement Intern 

Location: On-site, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles 

Hours: 8–20 hours per week based on availability 


About the Role 

This internship gives students hands-on experience helping small businesses pursue real contract opportunities through proposal and submission support. 


You will learn how the RFP process works and help business owners prepare the information needed to respond to contract opportunities from large organizations and public agencies, including upcoming opportunities connected to LA28 and FIFA. 


You will be trained on how the process works and how to translate business information into organized, submission-ready proposals. 

This is an ideal role for a student interested in consulting, operations, or future roles in proposals, contracts, grants, or RFP management. 


What You Will Do 

● Review RFPs and identify what information is required 

● Work with business owners to gather necessary documents and details

● Organize materials into clear, submission-ready proposals 

● Support the proposal writing and formatting process 

● Assist with final submission of proposals 

● Learn how small businesses access large contract opportunities 


What You Will Learn 

● How the RFP and contract process works 

● How large organizations evaluate small business vendors 

● How to translate business information into compelling proposals 

● Practical experience in business development and consulting 


Qualifications 

● Strong reading and writing skills

● Organized and detail-oriented 

● Comfortable working with documents and instructions 

● Interest in business, consulting, or entrepreneurship 

● Enjoys helping business owners navigate complex processes 

● Willingness to learn and take initiative

The New Economics for Women East LA BusinessSource Center is a community resource hub dedicated to helping local entrepreneurs start, stabilize, and grow their businesses. 


We provide a wide range of support through free one-on-one consultations, allowing us to build meaningful relationships with the business owners we serve and offer guidance tailored to their specific needs. Our work focuses on equipping small businesses with the tools, knowledge, and systems they need to operate more effectively, reach more customers, and build long-term sustainability. 


All services are provided at no cost to the community.
