Location: 1145 W Victoria Street, Rancho Dominguez, CA 90220

Company Background and Rationale

TDA Magnetics is a U.S.-based manufacturer of high-precision magnetic assemblies and components built with state-of-the-art materials. We deliver innovative magnetic solutions to the aerospace, military, semiconductor, medical, industrial, automotive, transportation, telecommunications, and consumer-goods industries.

TDA Magnetics is seeking a Junior Business Analyst intern (3-Month Duration with the possibility of Full-Time Hire subject to performance) to support our Mid-Level Business Analyst within a growing BI/ERP function.

What began as a request to "build a few reports" has matured into a full one-person analytics program:17 live Power BI reports, a SQL audit and reconciliation library of 30-plus queries, a 53-week ERP implementation roadmap, a CMMC Level 2 compliance program, and an active ERP improvement backlog spanning Customers, Vendors, Engineering, Shop Floor Control, Quality, Accounting, and System areas, all alongside daily ERP support and user training.

Today, each of these initiatives reliably reaches the "built and working" stage, but rarely gets the follow-up, validation, and adoption-tracking that turns a working report into a measurable business outcome. This is where the Junior Business Analyst comes in: by owning the repeatable execution layer, this role frees the Mid-Level Business Analyst to focus on follow-through, validation, and ROI, the stage where the real value is realized.

Data Analyst Intern

Position Summary:

Supports the Mid-Level Business Analyst by owning the repeatable execution layer (Steps 0–2 Groundwork) of our data operations. This is a strictly execution-focused role: it runs scheduled SQL audits, provides support to our BI tasks, applies master-data cleanup against standards defined by the BA, and surfaces findings to unblock the JobBOSS² ERP Implementation Roadmap. By managing first-line ERP ticket triage and report maintenance, this role directly frees up the BA to focus on stakeholder deployment, process validation, and tracking ROI (Steps 3–5). All output is reviewed and approved by the BA before becoming final.

This position will be on-site only. This will be a 3-Month internship at 40 hrs/week. Pay: $25.00/Hourly rate. Due to ITAR/DFARS/CMMC regulations the role needs a U.S. person (Citizen/Permanent Resident).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recurring Data Quality Audits: Run an existing library of SQL audit queries on a weekly cadence to identify missing codes, inventory discrepancies, bin-location errors, etc. Compile findings into a master Data Quality Tracker to raise data-integrity concerns to the BA.
  • Master Data Foundation Cleanup: Execute line-by-line record updates and cleanup in the JobBOSS² ERP system against strict standards defined by the BA to prepare the database for advanced analytics.
  • Report & Repository Maintenance: Assist with minor visual and formatting updates to existing dashboards, contributing to the core BI repository under direct supervision and approval of the BA. Act as the first line of defense for report-refresh failures across the portfolio of 17 operational BI reports.
  • ERP Ticket Triage: Categorize incoming internal ERP support requests against established taxonomies, resolve simple well-documented data-entry issues, and cleanly escalate complex technical tickets to the Mid-Level Business Analyst.
  • Structured Data Collection: Support the Mid-Level BA in ensuring proper data collection procedures are being followed. Analyze the collected data accordingly (Manufacturing and Operation purposes).
  • Documentation Upkeep: Keep the company Data Dictionary and internal system logs updated as tickets and data-cleanup milestones close, providing the documentation trailing edge necessary for project validation.
  • Collaborative Alignment: Work closely with cross-functional teams under the supervision of the BA to support execution-level tasks for process optimization and business-transformation initiatives.

Skills Profile:

  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy and comfort handling routine, repetitive data-scrubbing tasks where precision matters.
  • SQL: Ability to comfortably read, modify, and run queries using basic joins, filters, and aggregations (core requirement).
  • Excel & Power Query: High proficiency in Excel, with a foundational understanding of data-transformation (ETL/ELT) workflows.
  • Power BI Exposure or similar BI Tools: Basic exposure to Power BI or general business-intelligence tools.
  • Python: Ability to create and run basic Python scripts to support data tasks.
  • Systems Comfort: Adaptability and willingness to learn new software infrastructure (JobBOSS² ERP, Power BI environment, Microsoft Azure) — no prior ERP experience required.
  • Professional Capabilities: Strong organizational and time-management skills with the capacity to manage multiple execution-level priorities and deadlines.
  • Educational Background: Ideally suited for a recent graduate or current upper-level student in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
