The Opportunity

This is a Scrum Master role on an Army program focused on agentic process audit and modernization — one of the first programs applying AI-powered automation to how the military actually operates. You won’t be facilitating sprints on a legacy maintenance contract. You’ll be embedded inside a delivery pod that is building something new, shipping consistently, and delivering outcomes the customer can see.
This is a strong fit for someone with solid Agile and SAFe fundamentals who has supported government or DoD delivery. Deep automation expertise is not required — but curiosity about it will make you dangerous.
What You Will Deliver
• Sprint cadence that the team trusts — planning, standups, retros, and reviews that are sharp, not ceremonial
• Clean backlog health — stories groomed, prioritized, and ready before execution starts
• Velocity tracking and impediment reporting that gives leadership real signal, not noise
• A protected team — distractions blocked, blockers escalated, delivery rhythm maintained
• SAFe practices adopted across the pod with meaningful contributions to PI planning
• Sprint artifacts — boards, burndowns, retro action logs — that reflect reality, not theater
• Cross-pod coordination that surfaces dependencies before they become surprises
Growth Path
Early: Own the sprint rhythm for your pod. Build trust with the delivery team and the customer. Learn the program’s technical landscape and operational cadence.
Growth: Become the go-to project manager across multiple pods. Shape how SAFe practices scale as the program expands. Influence program-level planning and resource decisions.
Future Roles: Agile Program Lead, Delivery Manager, Program Operations Lead for emerging automation programs.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• U.S. Citizen (no dual citizenship)
• 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Junior PM on an Agile team
• Demonstrated experience in SAFe or another scaled Agile methodology
• Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent agile tools
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
• Strong facilitation and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• CSM, PSM I/II, or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification
• Prior exposure to government or DoD program environments
• Active security clearance
• Experience supporting Army or military IT modernization programs
• Familiarity with AI, agentic workflows, or automation delivery programs
This Role Is / Is Not
• Not a checkbox Scrum Master role where you run ceremonies and call it a day
• Not a general PM position — you are a facilitation specialist, not a project manager
