OutNebraska is a statewide non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering, celebrating, and cultivating thriving LGBTQ+ communities across Nebraska. For over 10 years OutNebraska has been making an impact in the region, and today OutNebraska serves as a central hub for advocacy and resources from the Missouri River to the Panhandle. OutNebraska works to empower, celebrate, and cultivate thriving queer and transgender communities across the state and empowers Nebraska communities to embrace and celebrate the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ people.
As policies regarding healthcare, education, and basic civil rights are debated at the highest levels of state government, the organization provides the necessary infrastructure for marginalized voices to be heard, ensuring that Nebraskans don't have to leave their home state to find safety or dignity. Beyond the courtroom and the Capitol, their work fosters a sense of belonging and resilience, proving that rural and Midwestern values truly mean equality for all residents.
The Opportunity
The Executive Director of OutNebraska serves as the organization’s principal leader, representative, and spokesperson. They are responsible for carrying out OutNebraska’s strategic plan and for leading the staff, board, and constituents in advancing the mission of the organization. This Executive Director is expected to bring a high level of energy to the pursuit of equality while navigating the unique political and social climate of Nebraska. This leader is looked to as an architect of progress who will meet each challenge with resolve and a vision for opportunity for community growth. The role requires a commitment to visibility that empowers individuals in every corner of the state to feel proud. By fostering a culture of optimism and belonging, the Executive Director will help turn shared goals into tangible victories for queer and trans Nebraskans.
Location, Compensation and Benefits
The Executive Director will be expected to reside in Nebraska. This is a hybrid role that requires regular in-person engagement in both Lincoln and Omaha.
The salary is commensurate with experience; with an anticipated salary range of $90,000–$110,000.
