The Chicago Public Library Foundation exists to unlock the full potential of one of Chicago’s most vital and trusted civic institutions. As the philanthropic partner to the Chicago Public Library, the Foundation mobilizes resources, relationships, and ideas to ensure that every Chicagoan, across all 81 neighborhoods, has access to opportunities that inform, inspire, and transform lives.
The Opportunity
The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the Foundation’s chief executive, principal ambassador and lead fundraiser, reporting to and working closely with the Chairman of the Board, and the Board of Directors. The CEO is responsible for translating the Foundation’s mission and long‑term vision into measurable impact by providing strategic leadership across fundraising, operations, finance, marketing, technology, and programs. The role is externally focused, with the majority of time dedicated to fundraising, donor engagement, and ensuring the Foundation (and Library) maintain their leadership position and visibility within the Chicago philanthropic community and beyond.
Location, Compensation and Benefits
The President & CEO will be based in Chicago at Impact House (200 W. Madison), along with regular in-person engagement across the city with civic leaders, partners, and stakeholders.
Compensation for this role is anticipated to be in the range of $250,000–$275,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
