Project Accountant
This position serves as a crucial financial resource within a project-based organization, overseeing the financial management of active contracts. The role focuses on maintaining precise project cost data, managing billing cycles, and ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle in a dynamic work environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Project Cost Management: Maintain precise project cost records, validate cost allocations, and collaborate with project leadership to implement necessary adjustments
- Financial Reporting: Manage general ledger transactions, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, conduct variance analysis, and support financial reporting related to project performance
- Contract Administration: Support billing processes including progress invoicing and retainage management
- Project Analysis: Assist with forecasting project costs, completing cost-to-complete analysis, and monitoring contract modifications and change orders
- Period Closing: Support monthly and annual financial closing activities as they relate to project accounting
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two years in an accounting capacity, with background in project-based or contract accounting preferred
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel capabilities
