CNC Machinist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal parts and components according to specifications. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work with tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or machining centers) to perform various machining operations
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining sequences and tool requirements
• Select appropriate cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates for optimal results
• Load and secure workpieces properly using various fixtures and holding devices
• Write, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G-code and M-code
• Perform quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments
• Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to maintain quality and efficiency
• Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs
• Monitor tool wear and replace cutting tools as needed
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in machining preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with CNC programming and G-code
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
• Basic math skills including trigonometry and geometry
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, or other CAD/CAM software
• Experience with 5-axis machining
• Knowledge of various metal properties and machining characteristics
• Experience with CNC lathes, mills, and grinding machines
• Forklift certification
