Senior Application Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will serve as a technical expert and primary point of contact for customers, providing advanced product application support, developing customized solutions, and ensuring successful product implementation. This position requires deep technical knowledge, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between customer requirements and our manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support to customers regarding product applications, specifications, and performance characteristics
- Develop customized solutions and configurations to meet specific customer requirements
- Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions for customers and sales teams
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address technical challenges and product improvements
- Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate products or modifications
- Prepare technical documentation, including application notes, product specifications, and implementation guides
- Participate in product development activities, providing feedback from field applications and customer requirements
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions to customer problems
- Support sales activities by providing technical expertise during customer meetings and presentations
- Conduct on-site visits to assist with product installation, commissioning, and optimization
- Collect and analyze customer feedback to drive product improvements and innovation
- Stay current with industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in application engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong technical background with deep understanding of manufacturing processes and systems
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a systematic approach to technical challenges
- Proficiency with Pro-E and CAD software and technical analysis tools
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Customer-focused mindset with experience in client-facing roles
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and requirements
- Project management experience with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer visits and technical support
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience with specific manufacturing technologies or processes relevant to our products
- Professional engineering certification (PE) or other relevant certifications
- Experience with product development and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations
- Multilingual abilities for international customer support
- Experience with CRM systems and customer relationship management
