Industrial Automation Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Automation Technician to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing systems and equipment. This position requires technical expertise in PLC programming, electrical systems, and mechanical components to ensure optimal performance of our automated production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission automated equipment and control systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on all automation systems including PLCs, robotics, sensors, and actuators
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automated systems using diagnostic tools and software
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems
- Calibrate and adjust sensors, instruments, and control devices to ensure accuracy
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize automation processes
- Ensure all automation systems comply with safety standards and regulations
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience with industrial automation systems
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, and industrial networking
- Experience with robotic systems, variable frequency drives, and servo motors
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Basic mechanical skills for working with automated equipment
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
- Willingness to work flexible hours including on-call and overtime as needed
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols
- Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES)
- Experience in a specific manufacturing environment (food processing, automotive, etc.)
- Certification in industrial automation or related field
- Experience with vision systems and advanced sensors
