Job Title: Payroll & Benefits Specialist


Overview


A growing organization is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance for a multi-site workforce. This role is responsible for executing accurate and timely payroll, managing time and attendance data, and ensuring all payroll tax filings and regulatory requirements are met without exception.


This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, accountability for payroll accuracy, and direct ownership of compliance deadlines and reporting. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing payroll end-to-end, administering benefits, and serving as a reliable point of contact for employees and internal stakeholders.


Work Arrangement


  • Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote
  • Onsite presence supports collaboration across HR, payroll, and operations, particularly during payroll cycles and key deadlines


Key Responsibilities


  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • Audit and validate time and attendance data, resolving discrepancies prior to payroll submission
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and payroll deductions
  • Support and execute open enrollment activities and ongoing benefits administration
  • Maintain accurate employee data within HRIS and payroll systems
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings, including quarterly and year-end reporting (W-2s, etc.)
  • Monitor and manage payroll and benefits compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure regulatory adherence
  • Partner with HR, operations, and finance to ensure accurate employee records and payroll inputs
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, PTO, and timekeeping
  • Generate payroll and benefits reports and support audits as needed
  • Assist with onboarding documentation related to payroll and benefits


Qualifications


  • 3 to 6+ years of payroll experience with end-to-end ownership, including processing, auditing, and final submission
  • Direct responsibility for payroll compliance, including tax filings, quarterly reporting, and year-end processing (W-2s, etc.)
  • Proven experience managing payroll deadlines and ensuring timely, accurate submission of required filings
  • Working knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll deductions, and multi-state payroll considerations
  • Experience administering employee benefits, including enrollments and payroll deductions
  • Hands-on experience with time and attendance systems, including auditing and discrepancy resolution
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Isolved, ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to handle employee-facing payroll and benefits inquiries



Preferred


  • Experience supporting multi-site or hourly workforces
  • Involvement in open enrollment processes
  • Intermediate Excel skills (lookups, reporting, audits)



Compensation


  • Base salary: $75,000 to $85,000
