We are seeking multiple experienced Commercial Lines Underwriters to join our growing underwriting team. These openings are the result of retirements and the continued need for experienced mid-level underwriting talent. In this role, you'll build and manage a profitable book of commercial business by underwriting both new and renewal accounts through an assigned agency network. While this is primarily an inside underwriting position, you'll also develop strong agency relationships through quarterly agency visits and industry events. This carrier has a strong casualty focus with limited Property exposure. Candidates must have experience underwriting multiline/package commercial accounts. Experience limited to mono-line Property, Professional Lines, or Workers' Compensation will not be considered.

  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation


Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage new and renewal commercial lines business within assigned authority.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with agency partners to drive profitable growth.
  • Evaluate risks, exposures, coverage needs, and pricing to achieve growth and profitability goals.
  • Analyze complex commercial risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with agents.
  • Manage an agency territory while meeting production, retention, and loss ratio objectives.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of commercial coverages, forms, endorsements, and rating methodologies.
  • Mentor less experienced underwriters and contribute to team development.
  • Represent the company at agency meetings, networking events, and quarterly agency visits.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience preferred (3+ years of strong multiline/package underwriting experience will also be considered).
  • Experience underwriting multiline/package commercial accounts is required.
  • Strong preference for experience with Construction, Contractors, Manufacturing, and Transportation risks.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid understanding of commercial underwriting principles, rating concepts, and risk analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent insurance industry experience.
  • CPCU, AU, or CIC designation is a plus.
