Responsibilities


  • Overall management of the Casualty Unit staff including management of LAE while balancing the BI and UMBI metrics for the Department to ensure a proper Lowest Ultimate Cost. Review existing procedures and identify and implement opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Chair our bi-weekly Claim Committee process including responsibility preparation and presentation of each claim submitted.
  • Responsibility for the Average Paid metric for BI and UMBI claims closed. Timely closure is also essential and will be considered in this category.
  • Responsibility for maintaining excellent quality of work product in the Claims Department by means of our internal audits as well as your own observations thru file reviews. You will be joined by the VP, AVP & Litigation Manager as well as random Claims Supervisors to complete these audits.
  • Responsibility for encouraging our BI Cashout program including the use of our Meds Incurred and Future Meds releases.


Qualifications


  • College degree required
  • A Law Degree or Professional designation from our industry such as a CPCU is strongly preferred
  • A minimum 10 years claims experience required with at least 2 of those years in supervisory positions.
  • Thorough knowledge of automobile insurance claim practices and procedures, with special emphasis on non-standard automobile claims.
  • Expertise in all facets including PD and Casualty claims and knowledge of the civil laws and insurance regulations within the 9 states being operated in.
  • This person must also have working knowledge of the Underwriting side of the business and how it affects the claim handling process.
  • General knowledge of claims systems, such as SIS, SDS, PMSC, or other branded or proprietary software.
