Avento Health, a recruiting agency, is hiring on behalf of a behavioral health organization in Lantana, Florida for a full-time Registered Intern Therapist.
This position is based within an accredited dual-diagnosis treatment program serving adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The organization offers detox, residential, and limited PHP/IOP services, but this role is focused specifically on residential clients. The program serves a high volume of Medicaid clients, making this an excellent opportunity for a clinician who is comfortable working with adults with complex behavioral health and psychosocial needs in a structured treatment setting.
The therapist will provide individual therapy, group therapy, clinical assessments, treatment planning, and documentation as part of a collaborative residential treatment team.
Position Summary
The Registered Intern Therapist will support adults with mental health and substance use challenges through individual counseling, group therapy, and ongoing treatment planning in a residential treatment setting. This is a strong opportunity for a Registered Intern who wants hands-on experience in residential treatment, dual-diagnosis care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Candidates with substance use disorder experience, strong documentation skills, and hands-on SunWave experience are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual therapy and group therapy to adults in a dual-diagnosis residential treatment setting
Manage an individual caseload of approximately 10 to 11 residential clients
Facilitate a caseload group once or twice per week
Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation
Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in SunWave
Support clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches
Work effectively with adults who may present with high clinical, psychosocial, and case management needs, including Medicaid-covered populations
Monitor client progress and update treatment plans as clinically appropriate
Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to coordinated care planning
Collaborate with clinical leadership, medical, nursing, operations, case management, and admissions teams
Maintain ethical, professional, and client-centered standards of care
Qualifications
Registered Intern status in Florida in a relevant behavioral health discipline required
Experience working with substance use disorder populations strongly preferred
Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred
Experience working with Medicaid populations or clients with complex psychosocial needs preferred
Strong clinical documentation skills required
Hands-on experience with SunWave strongly preferred
Ability to work effectively in a residential or structured behavioral health treatment setting
Strong communication, organization, and clinical judgment
Preferred Background
Residential treatment experience preferred
Experience in dual-diagnosis, addiction treatment, or adult behavioral health settings preferred
Familiarity with treatment planning, medical necessity, and quality documentation standards preferred
Experience working in programs serving high-acuity adults with mental health and substance use needs preferred
