About the Opportunity

Avento Health is recruiting on behalf of a respected behavioral health provider in southern Sonoma County seeking an experienced Clinical Supervisor to lead and strengthen its detox, residential, PHP, and IOP services.


This is an on-site leadership opportunity for a licensed therapist or PsyD in the state of California who is passionate about substance use disorder treatment, dual diagnosis care, clinical quality, staff development, and patient-centered care. The Clinical Supervisor will oversee clinical staff and help maintain a high standard of care across multiple levels of treatment as the organization continues to grow.


The program currently operates a residential treatment center licensed for 30 beds, with a current census between 15 and 20 clients and growing. The PHP/IOP program is also actively growing and currently serves approximately 15 clients. The treatment center has historically been SUD-primary and is evolving to also serve individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs through a more integrated dual diagnosis model.

Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical program coordination, supervision, and day-to-day leadership for counseling staff across detox, residential, PHP, and IOP services. This individual will support quality care delivery, reinforce strong documentation practices, promote accountability, guide clinical decision-making, and help foster a collaborative, mission-driven treatment environment.

The ideal candidate brings experience supervising clinical teams in behavioral health, addiction treatment, detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient services, or a closely related setting. This person should be knowledgeable in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, including Motivational Interviewing, cognitive behavioral approaches, relapse prevention, and treatment strategies for substance use and co-occurring disorders.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision, leadership, and support to a team of clinicians across multiple levels of care

• Oversee the clinical operations of the detox, residential, PHP, and IOP programs

• Partner with program leadership to develop, evaluate, and refine clinical programming, policies, workflows, and procedures

• Support the continued growth of the PHP/IOP program and the expansion of dual diagnosis services

• Help ensure smooth coordination of care and continuity across detox, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment

• Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance feedback

• Promote high-quality, ethical, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care

• Review clinical documentation for quality, timeliness, and compliance with program and regulatory standards

• Ensure treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, and other clinical records are completed accurately and on time

• Support crisis management, clinical problem-solving, and sound clinical judgment as needed

• May provide direct counseling services when necessary, including assessment, treatment planning, individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and case management

• Promote culturally responsive care for clients of diverse backgrounds, identities, and clinical presentations

• Communicate with clients, families, referral sources, and interdisciplinary team members in a professional and respectful manner

• Help maintain compliance with applicable licensing, accreditation, and internal program standards

• Maintain confidentiality of client and employee information

• Support strong clinical outcomes and an excellent treatment experience across all program components


Qualifications

• Active California license required as an LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or PsyD

• Candidates must be a licensed therapist or PsyD in the state of California with supervisory experience

• Previous clinical leadership or supervisory experience is required

• Experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, detox, residential treatment, PHP, IOP, or a closely related setting strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of substance use disorder treatment, co-occurring disorders, clinical documentation, treatment planning, and quality standards

• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches, including trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing, relapse prevention, and cognitive behavioral strategies

• Experience working with dual diagnosis populations preferred

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to lead teams, build accountability, and support staff in a fast-paced treatment environment

• Ability to work on-site full-time in southern Sonoma County, California

• Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred

• Ability to work within clear ethical and professional guidelines

Work Schedule

This position is primarily Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening coverage may be required as needed based on program operations and client care needs.
