About the Opportunity
Avento Health is seeking a Mental Health Coordinator / Licensed Therapist for a full-time, on-site opportunity in California City, California. This role is ideal for an experienced LCSW or LPCC who is comfortable working in a structured behavioral health environment and providing direct clinical care to individuals in custody within a secure correctional and detention setting.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health screenings, psychosocial assessments, and clinical interviews
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans based on clinical presentation and ongoing needs
- Provide counseling, crisis intervention, behavioral health support, and therapeutic services in an on-site setting
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the appropriate medical or behavioral health record systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical, behavioral health, and administrative teams to support continuity of care
- Respond to urgent mental health concerns using sound clinical judgment and appropriate intervention strategies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional, legal, ethical, and facility standards at all times
- Support treatment, stabilization, and rehabilitation efforts within a secure correctional/detention environment
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related clinical field from an accredited institution
- Active, current California licensure as an LCSW or LPCC is required
- Candidates with pending California licensure cannot be considered
- At least 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred
- Strong skills in assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, documentation, and interpersonal communication
- Ability to work on-site in a secure correctional or detention setting
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to pass background screening, credentialing, and drug screening requirements
Important Role Details
- This is a fully on-site clinical role; telehealth is not available
- This is a full-time opportunity; part-time schedules are not available
- Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Relocation assistance may be available; however, candidates must already hold an active California LCSW or LPCC license to be considered
- This role is best suited for clinicians who are confident, organized, professional, and able to work effectively within a structured environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in correctional health, detention, forensic behavioral health, inpatient behavioral health, crisis services, or community mental health
- Experience providing direct therapy, behavioral health counseling, intake assessments, and crisis response
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader care team
- Cultural competence and sensitivity when serving diverse and vulnerable populations
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $110,000-$130,000 annually
